Meera Jasmine (born Jasmine Mary Joseph on 15 February
1984) is an national award -winning Indian film actress
who appears in various regional Indian movies. She is
among the most talented and prominent actresses in the
film industry.
Early life and background
Meera
Jasmine was born on Feb.15, 1984 in Kuttappuzha, Thiruvalla
in Kerala. Born as Jasmine Mary Joseph to Joseph and
Aleyamma, the Marthomite by birth completed her schooling
in Mar Thoma Residential School, Thiruvalla.
Career
Meera Jasmine was not born into a family of actors.
Nobody encouraged her to act or dance during her school
days. Unlike other heroines, she is not a 'Kalathilakam'
or a model. Before her entry into films, nobody noticed
her talent. Her entry into films was quite unexpected.
She was introduced by Lohithadas. She was attracted
to the industry and accepted a film offer against her
father's wishes. Meera joined the industry without much
expectations of success. She was ready to go back to
her studies if her film did not do well, but the amazing
response she received after her debut made her choose
acting as her career.
Personal life
It is reported by media that she will be marrying U.
Rajesh, a mandolin artist. Rajesh and Meera have formally
confirmed the love they have for each other. Rajesh
is the brother of notable mandolin artist U. Srinivas.
However, according to Meera Jasmine, she would not marry
Rajesh for two years, till her on-going film commitments
are over.
Controversy
She offered prayers and bowed to Lord at Raja Rajeshwara
temple at Taliparamba in Kerala where the entry of non-Hindus
is prohibited. This lead to a controversy and sparked
off a protest by Hindu devotees. Later, she paid Rs.
10,000 as penalty to the temple authorities.
